Discovering Buddhism - Module 12 - Meditation on Emptiness
From 22 March 2017
Margo van Greta

Emptiness, or sunyata, is the ultimate truth, the actual way in which everything exists, and is the most profound of all Buddha's teachings. Lama Zopa Rinpoche in his Wisdom Energy says: "Each and every meditational dharma practice has been taught for only one reason: to lead beings to the correct view of reality-that all things are empty of independent existence." Understanding emptiness is vital not only to free ourselves from all confusion, problems and suffering we experience in our daily lives and in cyclic existence, but also to fulfil our highest potential: attaining enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. This course will provide you with the introduction to emptiness and how to meditate on it.

The classes will be a combination of discussion and meditation. You will get access to the online material: audio teachings and PDF transcript, extra recommended reading, and a review quiz to check your understanding.

This module is open to both experienced students as well as new ones.

Margo van Greta
Involved with the Dharma since 1987, Margo has studied and practised both in the east and the west with a variety of Buddhist teachers like Lama Zopa Rinpoche, His Holiness the Dalai lama, Khadrola. She spends one month a year in retreat, and is keen to bring the Buddhist teachings and practices into our western culture, our lives and hearts through evening classes and retreats. She is qualified to teach on the Discovering Buddhism level, and started the Togme Sangpo study group with the encouragement of her teacher Lama Zopa Rinpoche.
