How to Meditate
Discovering Buddhism module 2
with Margo van Greta
starting Tuesday 30 April 2024, 7.30-9pm, ONLINE
The challenges of daily life often leave us feeling overwhelmed, struggling to focus and less able to be present for our friends and loved ones. It can be hard to find the mental space to switch off, relax and recharge. Even when we find time in our schedules, our busy minds make it harder for us to feel properly rested. This is where meditation comes in.
A simple meditation practice gently relaxes us into a calm mental space, where we are aware of our thoughts yet are no longer carried away by them. We can then direct our attention to what matters and face challenges with a happier, more peaceful and loving attitude.
Some meditations, such as calm abiding, is focussed on watching the breath, feeling different sensations or placing the mind on a specific object or concept and keeping the focus there. On the other hand, analytical meditation goes over a certain topic or philosophical point using logic and reason to investigate it in greater depth.
In this module you will learn:
The classes will be a combination of teaching, discussion and meditation. You will get access to the online material: audio teachings and PDF transcript, extra recommended reading, and a review quiz to check your understanding.
What participants say: "My mind has changed, my mind is clear. My understanding of the concepts within Buddhism have grown enormously." February 2022
This module is open to both experienced students as well as new ones.
