As our lives get more complicated, it seems we need more and more things to make us happy, but somehow we never really succeed. The simple truth eludes us, that happiness is a state of mind, not dependent on external objects. True, deep happiness lies within us and we can tap this great source through meditation.
During this day you will learn and practice basic meditation techniques. You will learn the definition and purpose of meditation, how to sit properly, how to set up a meditation session, the different types of meditation techniques one may employ, and how to recognise and deal with obstacles to meditation.
We will practice different types of meditation, and have space for questions and discussion. We do some simple body work to help our body relax.
For beginners and beyond!

Course Topics
Buddhist Meditation 101 provides an overview of meditation and basic meditation techniques, including breathing meditation, mindfulness meditation, visualization meditation, and analytical meditation. It includes an explanation of the purpose of meditation; the meditation posture, meditation paraphernalia, and the meditation place; and what kinds of skills, such as concentration and mindfulness, are developed in meditation. It explains how the Buddhist understanding of mind as a nonphysical entity that is a stream of constantly changing moments of consciousness means that, through meditation, harmful mental habits can be eliminated and positive ones developed and strengthened. It presents the various obstacles that can prevent the mind from remaining focused and how to counteract these obstacles. It explains how to set up a meditation session and how to establish a long-term meditation practice.
This course also includes ten guided meditation to give you a taste of several different types of meditation techniques:
